Byline Maps is built to collect as little data about you as possible. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

Map data stays on your device

Your country selections, colors, labels, and any presets you save are stored only in your browser's local storage. This information is never uploaded to our servers. When you export a map, the image is generated entirely on your device.

License key activation

If you purchase Byline Maps Pro and enter your license key to activate it, the key is sent to our server, which forwards it to Gumroad to confirm it's valid and hasn't been refunded or disputed. We don't store your license key on our servers — the activation result is saved in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter it each visit.

Payments

All payment processing is handled directly by Gumroad. Byline Maps never receives, sees, or stores your card number or other payment details. Gumroad collects your email address to deliver your license key and receipt; see Gumroad's privacy policy for how they handle that information.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall site traffic (which pages are visited, referring sites, approximate country, device type). This is anonymous and aggregated: it doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect your IP address, and doesn't identify you individually.

Byline Maps is served through Cloudflare, which also provides its own Web Analytics for the site. Like Vercel's, it's cookieless and anonymous — it doesn't set any cookies or track you across sites.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data with third parties for advertising, and we don't run ad trackers on this site.

Your choices

You can clear everything Byline Maps has stored in your browser (presets, license activation) at any time by clearing your browser's site data for bylinemaps.com.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
